20 Transient slips with power coming to Kenora
20 Transient slips in Kenora coming soon!!
I have been communicating with Jennifer Findlay for the last two years. Jennifer is the Economic Development Officer for the City of Kenora.
I wrote her a long letter two years ago expressing my feelings about what was needed concerning docking improvements in the Harbor Front in Kenora from a tourists point of view. In so many words I said Kenora needs transient docking for larger boats up to 50' long with 30 amp power available at the slips. The docks should have 20 amp standard elect connections for smaller boats and fishing boats to charge their batteries during fishing contests as well. These new facilities would attract larger boats from all over the lake to stay at these docks and shop in Kenora. Larger boats from the Twin Cities area in Minnesota and from Wisconsin would be more likely to travel to Kenora if these facilities were available.
Jennifer called me about 6 weeks ago and informed me that transient docking was in the works for 20 larger slips with power for larger boats and smaller boats. This would not be seasonal docking. Boats could stay for up to a week possibly. Existing bathroom facilities are available at the Harbor Front. Pump out facilities and laundry facilities are close by.
The location of these docks will be east of the existing Harbor Front docks we are using for Escape this year. I do not know the exact design and time frame for completion of these docks at this time.
I believe Jenifer Findlay will be visiting the Summer Escape group at the Harbor Front on July 1st. If she appears I will give her a name tag so you can recognizer her and ask some questions.
