Winter Escape Kenora recap

Postby Big Dog on Sat Mar 21, 2009 2:05 am

Winter Escape was fun. The Best Western Lake side Inn in Kenora is a great place to meet. The food was good, the soup was flying, you had to be there, and the conversation was inspiring. Politics and the economy seemed to be the main theme. Almost everyone agreed with the commodores conservative views, not!!!

Pictures are below. One picture is of two Escape members with burglar technical expertise on how to open up a locked door without a key. Seems Barb Newman locked herself out of her room.

A discussion of the Summer Escape schedule came up. It was decided that the leg from Totem Resort to Sportsman's Lodge in the U.S. was too far to cruise in one day. The bubblers would be cruising for 7 hours to go 42 miles (79 km). The new course will take us to Sanderson Beach 16.3 miles (26.3 km) for overnight anchorage on July 2nd. On July 3rd we will cruise 23 miles (37 km) to Redwater Bay for our wilderness anchorage. On July 4th we will cruise 20 miles (32 km) to Sportsman's Lodge for the evening. It was felt shorter distances per day will allow for more stopping for swimming, fishing, and sightseeing. No time pressures to get to the next anchorage or resort.

The new information reflecting these changes for Summer Escape should be up on the web site in a week.ImageImageImageImage
